Ports of Auckland Strike Action

February 16, 2012

The Maritime Union strike set for one week from 0700 Friday 24th Feb appears to be proceeding after further talks between the Ports Management and Union failed to resolve the employment contract issues.

Speaking with Port Management today they are confident contingency plans for non- union and contracted staff will provide the container movement and R & D (Release and Delivery) services required albeit at a limited rate.

The Port is waiting for decisions from Shipping Lines at this stage as Lines may omit the Auckland call during this “Strike” week and discharge/uplift Auckland cargo via Tauranga port.

Note – Coastal vessels and cargo will not be effected.

We will continue to keep all customers up-to-date as news comes to hand

Container Relocation’s services will be unaffected by this strike action
